Advantages

The main advantage of generic medicines (EFG) is in the final selling price, which is sensibly lower than the originator product. Generic medicines save money to consumers as generic medicines companies do not have to make the same investments of pharmaceutical companies to discover new molecules.

The direct consequence of this price reduction is that it helps to save around 25% -50% compared to the originator product with equivalent brand. Generic medicines benefit citizens because they have to pay less for a medicine and they contribute to rationalize public expense in medicinal products, without losing quality, safety or efficacy.
