Generic medicines in the European Union

Generic medicines participation in the total pharmaceutical market, either in volume or in value, positions Spain far away from the European average. The following charts clearly show the strong impact in health savings when there is a strong penetration of generic medicines. According to the latest data from the European Generic Medicines Association (EGA), the United Kingdom saves up to 6.000 million Euros per year.
